Bible Reading Plan: Reflecting on the Early Church

rethink church 2The story of Jesus doesn’t end with Jesus.  It continues in the lives of those who believe in him.  Luke makes it clear in the book of Acts that the Christians he wrote about were no more spectators of Jesus than Jesus was a spectator of God – they are in on the action of God.  God acting in them, God living in them. Which also, of course, means in us.

In the book of Ephesians, Paul, who was introduced to us in Acts, describes to the faithful Christians in Ephesus and to us God’s long-range plan of reconciliation. He tells us how Jesus is eternally and tirelessly bringing everything and everyone together and, having done the work of reconciliation in and for us, we now participate with him in this most urgent work on earth.
