You might be wondering, what is confirmation?
Confirmation is the time in our student’s lives when they get to decide on their own that they want to be a follower of Jesus and want to join the local church. But don’t worry, they don’t have to make this decision right now, that’s why we offer a confirmation class.
During confirmation our students will learn about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, about the purpose and history of the local church, including our denomination, and what it means when someone decides to join the church.
In our 2016 confirmation class we had 16 students explore their faith and learn more about being a follower of Jesus. After completing their classes, a retreat, and attending a local Shabbat service they had the opportunity to join the church on Sunday, April 3rd 2016.
Our confirmation class of 2014 traveled to Warren Willis Camp for a retreat that included small group teaching, big group teaching, worship, and fun and games. In addition to the retreat they had classes to attend that were taught by Pastor Marcus Zillman and Jill Haire, Director of Student Ministries. After the students completed their classes and retreat they were given the option to finalize their confirmation on a Confirmation Sunday designated to recognizing this big decision they decided to make in their faith journey.
