The JOEL HAITI INITIATIVE was created with a donation from the William and Vivian Joel endowment left to the First United Methodist of Boca Raton to be used in support of the Haitian people locally and in Haiti. A board of nine people were nominated to independently oversee and manage the funds and build an organizational structure and decide on a vision for the future. The initial focus of the Joel Haiti Initiative is in the Pignon region of Haiti at the Christian School of New Vision in LaJeune, Haiti. The CSNV had been a supported FUMC Outreach Mission with church member donations and mission trips for several years. Through subsequent mission trips and contacts in the Pignon region, other projects and partnerships have been developed. Locally, we have developed relationships with Haitian schools and churches in our community. For more information, please contact Dan Bertotti.

Prayer Bear Ministry collects and prepares little stuffed teddy bears with a note of love and concern. Bears are in baskets outside the worship areas to be picked up by you or to give to someone needing “love and concern.” You can also participate in getting the bears ready to be given.
