Confirmation 2016

You might be wondering, what is confirmation?

Confirmation is the time in our student’s lives when they get to decide on their own that they want to be a follower of Jesus and want to join the local church. But don’t worry, they don’t have to make this decision right now, that’s why we offer a confirmation class.

During confirmation our students will learn about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, about the purpose and history of the local church, including our denomination, and what it means when someone decides to join the church.

In our 2016 confirmation class we had 16 students explore their faith and learn more about being a follower of Jesus. After completing their classes, a retreat, and attending a local Shabbat service they had the opportunity to join the church on Sunday, April 3rd 2016.

Mission, Vision & Values

core values 2020Vision 2020

The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We live this out by:
Loving God and Loving People (Luke 10:27)

Vision:
To expand the Kingdom of God by fostering a culture that helps people discover and live out the life that God intends for each of us to have.

Core Values:

Our five core values are:

Loving as God loves
We desire to connect with and extend God’s unconditional love to all people through all we say and do.

Being in Community
We value our relationships with one another, regardless of age, gifts, and views on theology, politics, and social issues, and choose to worship and do life together as the body of Christ.

Deepening relationships with Jesus Christ
We desire to encourage, equip, and empower people, in traditional ways like small groups and mentoring relationships and in fresh expressions throughout the community, wherever we are in our spiritual journey, to become all God created us to be so that we can be a blessing to others.

Partnering with others to carry out God’s work
We can accomplish more with others than we can alone; so we work with the United Methodist Church, global and community organizations, and individuals both inside and outside the church to live into the life that God desires for us.

Engaging the next generation
We want to connect and form mutual relationships with college students and young families in our church and community so that we can each live into God’s plan.

Our Strategic Initiatives:

Growing in Christ:
Everyone has a need to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. In 2016 we want to establish a discipleship path to engage the congregation and community.

Community Collaborations:
Palm Beach County Food Project
The creation of a Boca Raton Day Center
Partner with the local schools/or organizations to make a difference in children’s lives.
Haiti Initiatives

Next Generation:
In the summer of 2016, to launch a campus presence at Florida Atlantic University with a partnership from the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministries of the Florida Annual Conference. We also desire to invest in and strengthen families in our church and community.
